BRAIN IN BALANCE

Hello, I am Marlijn Blöte. I am a psychologist, and I work in mental healthcare since 2019. I have primarily worked within specialized mental healthcare with anxiety- and mood disorders, trauma-related complaints, self-image issues, and personality disorders.
From a young age on, I have always been fascinated by how our personality develops. Why does one person love being the center of attention, while another finds it terrible? Why can the same remark stick with one person for a long time, while another forgets it immediately? In short, what makes us the individuals we are, and how did we become that way? For this reason, I have always had a great interest in the people around me: their thoughts, motivations, and life stories. The decision to study psychology was therefore an easy one.
I derive great pleasure from my work! I consider it a privilege to be able to dive into someone's inner world. I use scientifically validated techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, schema therapy, and EMDR. In doing so, I view you as a whole person and do not only work symptom-focused. I look at the interconnectedness of the complaints with one another, with various life events, your upbringing, your social environment, and potentially with your work. Everyone is different, and that makes this profession always interesting and educational. Research shows that the relationship within a treatment is the best predictor of whether a treatment will be effective. That is why I find it especially important to pay attention to this, and to ensure that you feel truly comfortable during our sessions. I would describe myself as warm and empathetic. I enjoy listening to what you tell me, and I also try to hear what you might not immediately express. Additionally, I am analytical and like to use a bit of humor in therapy. I follow your pace, while at the same time enjoying taking action.
